Additional Dog Food Recalls Once Again

On April 19, 2013 – Natura Pet Products has expanded their list of recalled dry dog foods. This is recall is due to the probability of Salmonella contamination. The following popular brands of dog food and treats being recalled are listed below. All sizes - all UPC’s and all lots are affected. Expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2014 for all of the following as well:

  • EVO
  • Innova
  • Karma
  • Healthwise
  • California Natural

Michigan Department of Agriculture was just one authority that confirmed the presence of Salmonella during a sampling they conducted. For full details on the recall visit the FDA website. Salmonella can affect animals eating this contaminated food as well as humans from handling the contaminated pet food. Hands and surfaces that have been exposed to such contaminated food must be thoroughly washed and awareness of cross contamination should be noted. Possible signs your pet has been exposed may be diarrhea, sluggishness, fever, blood in stool and vomiting. Some dogs may only show minimal if any signs such as decreased appetite and or fever. If you’re dog or puppy has ingested the above foods and shows any signs of symptoms, please contact your veterinarian. Some signs of human contamination are but not limited to diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping, fever. Contact your point of purchase of recalled food to establish a refund.
